WWE is set to host it’s next batch of talent tryouts over WrestleMania weekend in Dallas, Texas in April, and we now know the directive that WWE will be using.
It was previously noted that WWE would be looking for ‘younger, bigger prospects’ during the tryouts, with less focus on independent wrestling signees.
Dave Meltzer notes in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE will not be inviting too many independent wrestlers to the tryouts, but some will still get the opportunity.
He said:
“This week’s doctrine on new talent is more and more wanting to train athletes who are starting from scratch or almost from scratch. The idea is very few indie wrestlers, like no more than you can count on one hand, and even less going forward after that.”
One independent name who was recently at WWE’s tryouts is former ROH Women’s Champion Rok-C, who has reportedly been offered a contract by the company.
