Xavier Woods Out For Up To A Year Following Surgery

Xavier Woods Out For Up To A Year Following Surgery

It was reported at the beginning of this week that New Day member Xavier Woods had suffered an Achilles tendon injury, but the seriousness of the injury was unknown.

It was then reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio that it was thought to be a torn Achilles tendon, which is about as serious as it gets in terms of Achilles injuries.

Meltzer has again updated the situation in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, and it’s very bad news for Woods and his fans.

“Woods suffered a torn Achilles tendon on 10/21 in Sydney, Australia, which is a very serious injury and is likely to put him on the shelf nine months to a year.”

Xavier Woods gave a brief update earlier this week, and has promised fans that he won’t be off their screens for long, as he plans to increase his streaming presence while he recovers.

He will be a huge miss for the New Day and for the SmackDown roster, but you would think that Kofi and Big E are more than capable of carrying the team for the next year or so.

Everyone at WrestleTalk wishes him a very speedy recovery and hope to see him back in the ring as soon as he is fit.
