A few weeks ago, WrestleTalk reported that Dustin Runnels, aka Goldust, had been approached to be an honorary deputy for Williamson County, Texas. Now, the stalwart has been sworn into the role and will begin his role cracking down on drug dealers in the county.
I was just sworn in as an #HonoraryDeputy for @SheriffChody today. Very honored to do my part in our community. Thank you #SherriffChody pic.twitter.com/NL6yJMkvkx

The ceremony was held in private on Thursday morning and conducted by WilCo Sheriff Robert Chody. This is a wise step for Runnels, who has admitted in the last couple of weeks that his in-ring career is coming to an end. The former WWF Intercontinental Champion has battled addiction to drugs and alcohol during his colorful life and seems the perfect candidate to help change lives and put an end to the problem in Texas.
Whilst the new law enforcement role will allow him to compete, Dustin recently underwent double-knee surgery in Birmingham, Alabama. It is unknown how long he will be out of action.
WrestleTalk extend its congratulations to Dustin and wish him nothing but success in his new position.
