Last night at NXT TakeOver: In Your House, Charlotte Flair dropped the NXT Women’s Championship to Io Shirai in an awesome three-way match that also featured Rhea Ripley.
Because a week is not complete without Charlotte Flair being featured in a big match on WWE TV, it has been confirmed that “The Queen” will challenge Asuka tonight on Raw.
In a rematch from last week where Flair won after Asuka was counted-out, Charlotte will go one-on-one with the “Empress of Tomorrow”, on tonight’s go-home show before Backlash.
The match comes just six days before Asuka is set to defend her title against Nia Jax at the Backlash pay-per-view, and while Flair vs. Asuka will undoubtedly be a good match, it is incredibly problematic.
Also, WWE fans are growing sick of Charlotte being pushed to the top of the card, so inserting her into another big match just one day after her last will certainly not endear her to the fanbase. Also, I don’t see Charlotte losing two matches in two days, so I hope they don’t have her beat Asuka here.
Regardless, this match will undeniably be fantastic from an in-ring perspective, and if Asuka is booked to beat Charlotte clean heading into Backlash, then that’s a great decision.
