Dolph Ziggler and Otis went one on one at WrestleMania 36 as they battled over Mandy Rose’s affection. While that was the peak of their program, they continued to feud on SmackDown in the weeks that followed.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Ziggler said he felt like their rivalry had run its course. Here is the full quote:
“I didn’t pitch this, but I feel like [the program between] myself and Otis had kind of run its course. I really liked working with Otis, Mandy and Sonya. If this were the old days and we were going five days a week and doing live events, we would have had even more chemistry and a really special thing. In this day and age, where it’s just a TV show in a closed studio, as young superstars, they came along very quickly. But I don’t know where else we could go with that, so I completely understand the move to Raw.”
Unfortunately for Ziggler, Mandy Rose ended up choosing to be with Otis after their WrestleMania match.
Ziggler and Bobby Roode were recently sent to Raw to complete the trade involving AJ Styles. He is now going to face Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules.
