Two AEW Stars Take Over Running Dynamite With Tony Khan Absent AEW

AEW Dynamite was taken over by two of the company’s top stars with Tony Khan absent after ‘not being medically cleared to travel’.

When tonight’s AEW Dynamite had barely even begun, it was already taken over by Nicholas and Matthew Jackson, the Young Bucks.

While Tony Khan had previously noted that he would be at the helm of tonight’s Dynamite remotely given that he was still (in storyline) recovering from the vicious attack waged by the Elite to end last week’s show, his remote work was short lived.

Shortly after he was shown in a video, the Young Bucks cut his connection, noting that as EVPs they were now in charge of the show.

Also to clear up any confusion regarding how they hadn’t been fired, they had ‘iron-clad contracts’ that feature a ‘founder’s clause’.

They also aired a ‘new’ opening video package for Dynamite that only featured highlights of the Elite.

Elsewhere on tonight’s show, the Young Bucks interrupted an in-ring segment from Swerve Strickland via the big screen before introducing Strickland’s Double Or Nothing challenger.

Christian Cage returned and will challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing in Las Vegas on May 26, 2024.
