AEW president and CEO Tony Khan has provided an update on the condition of Matt Hardy after he was released from the hospital.
Per Khan, Hardy passed MRI and CT scans and does not have a concussion. Khan added that Hardy will be back as soon as Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.
He wrote:
An update on Matt Hardy: it’s great news! Matt’s ok, we sent him to the hospital as a precaution & he’s passed the MRI + CT scans, he doesn’t have a concussion, and he’s being driven home now. Matt will be at Dynamite on Wednesday night to thank you amazing fans for your support!
The incident saw Hardy and Sammy Guevara fall from an about 10-15ft platform, overshooting the tables that were meant to break their fall and the back of Hardy’s head smashed against the concrete floor. Khan’s update contradicts what Hardy’s wife Reby had tweeted earlier, as she wrote that he had “1000%” suffered a concussion.
What was worrying was he seemed to be down and out for a considerable amount of time, then when he got back up he was stumbling around. Despite this, the doctor let the match continue and they both climbed up to a similar height for the finish which was Guevara falling down to the floor and losing via Last Man Standing rules.
It’s good to hear Hardy is doing well and we continue to wish him the best in his recovery.
