Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton have been going at each other for months in WWE. While McIntyre has gotten the upper hand throughout the feud, for the longest time Orton was having the much better career. Back in 2014, McIntyre was released by WWE while Orton was on top.
Throughout the years, Orton had a number of moments where a lesser performer would have been fired. His attitude is well-documented and he had a number of wellness policy failures. However, McIntyre believes he was kept around because of how good he was. Here are his comments on Orton’s past from his interview with Metro UK:
“I was obviously aware of it. I didn’t get jealous, I never had that mentality but it was interesting to hear. I never saw it at the worst, I guess – I heard the stories from the people that were there. I saw enough that I spoke about during the promos live on television. There’s a lot of truth to this story, and the things that Randy got away with. He says himself, he should have been fired a lot of times. The truth is, he was so good, so talented and had so much potential, that’s why he got away with murder.”
Now, Orton will once again face Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell. It will be Orton’s third WWE Championship match this year.
