Tyson Kidd has been working for WWE as a producer since his retirement in 2015. Since then it has been his job to put together matches backstage and now he has revealed one particular major match he was supposed to produce.
During his appearance on the New Day Podcast, Kidd talked about his history with Kofi Kingston. In doing so, he mentioned he was supposed to produce Kofi’s match against Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35. Here is the quote, courtesy of Wrestling Inc.:
“My tryout match for WWE was against Kofi. I was unsigned, and then I got signed by working the dark matches. I wrestled with Kofi in my first TV match at Deep South Wrestling. We’ve done single matches, tag matches, all the way to producing. I was actually supposed to produce Bryan and Kofi at WrestleMania.”
This match was, of course, the culmination of the KofiMania storyline where Kingston won the WWE Championship.
Tyson Kidd has not wrestled since suffering a devastating neck injury in 2015. His final feud prior to the injury was against the New Day during his partnership with Cesaro.
