Over the last few months, AEW has signed numerous young wrestlers, most recently Darius and Dante Martin (21 and 19 respectively) signed deals with the promotion after impressing on Dark.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW is signing wrestlers like Top Flight to big five-year deals, clearly showing their intent to push younger talent:
Most of the key younger talent that they are high on are being signed to five-year deals
This certainly makes sense, as MJF revealed during a recent interview that the AEW contract that he signed in 2019 won’t expire until 2024. You can expect the likes of Jungle Boy and Private Party to be on similar deals.
It’s great to see that AEW wants to lock down its younger talent for several years, clearly showing that while they will use stars who formerly worked for WWE, they are also looking at the independent scene for the future.
