If you watched last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, you will have seen that in the 6-man tag match between the Lucha Bros and Lance Archer vs. Eddie Kingston, the Butcher and the Blade, Penta El Zero was put through the timekeepers table and had to be helped backstage.
While this was good storytelling for the actual match as it put his team at a disadvantage, there were also real-life reasons behind Penta’s removal.
According to Bodyslam.net, Penta recently injured his leg during training, and putting him through a table was done to write him off TV for a few weeks while he recovers. I often find putting myself through a table aggravates my injuries, but then I’m not a Lucha Bro.
Penta joins an AEW injury list which also features Brodie Lee and Kris Statlander. Thankfully there haven’t been too many serious injuries in the first couple of years of AEW’s existence, so let’s hope that Penta’s injury also falls into the less serious category.
