Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) has announced that Brian Pillman Jr. will be relinquishing the OVW Heavyweight Championship, leading some to speculate that he’s signed a full-time deal with All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
OVW confirmed the news on social media this afternoon, with the promotion citing Pillman’s “growing relationship with AEW” as the reason that the title is being vacated, with a new champion set to be crowned next week.

Brian Pillman Jr has since taken to social media to open up about his time with OVW and has issued the following statement:
From taking my first bump in an OVW ring to then winning the Heavyweight Championship inside a steel cage 4 years later, words cannot describe how important this title was to me! Amidst a pandemic I chased every available opportunity which resulted in running a tight schedule. In order to full commit my talents to AEW and limit my exposure to infection, I have cut down on outside bookings. I wish nothing but the best for OVW as they crown a new champion on Jan 9th at the Nightmare Rumble! I urge you all to support this talented locker room and crew!
This would certainly make it seem as if Pillman Jr has left MLW and signed with AEW, something he has reportedly been trying to do for a while now. Stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for any potential confirmation.
For the last few months, Brian Pillman Jr has been teaming with Griff Garrison as The Varsity Blondes in AEW. Pillman has had 16 matches for the promotion since the beginning of the last year, winning four of them.
