Some of the plans that IMPACT Wrestling had for Sammy Guevara before he was pulled from the tapings have been revealed.
It’s been well-documented to this point that Sammy Guevara wasn’t happy with the creative direction and was removed, with Black Taurus doing most of what Guevara would have been doing.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided some insight into what IMPACT had planned for Guevara.
As per Meltzer, Guevara would have suffered losses, and although his last match would have been a win, he would have been the victim of a beatdown that he wouldn’t return to get revenge for.
Guevara did pitch to IMPACT to win the X-Division Championship, which is something the promotion didn’t have in its original plans.
Meltzer also specifically wrote:
One version of the story is that he was going to lose in a three-way with Ace Austin and Chris Bey in the plans. Black Taurus took his spot, so it appears week one was Taurus & Austin & Bey over Trey Miguel & Willie Mack & Josh Alexander where he would have won. Then the winners were put in a three-way for the second week, where the winner of that was to face TJP for the X title.
With Guevara leaving the Inner Circle, turning babyface in the process, and seemingly heading towards a match with MJF, you can kind of see why he didn’t want to be losing and suffering beatdowns.
