Speaking on the After The Bell podcast, Rey Mysterio revealed that the plan is for Dominik Mysterio to eventually start wearing a mask on WWE television.
Rey Mysterio told Corey Graves that Dominik has to “earn” the right to wear a mask, which will presumably come after Dominik beats his father in a big match:
“That was the idea from day one that he started training: Dom will continue with this legacy and carry it on. But we never really had the opportunity to sit down and discuss our plans, which now in retrospect we can look at it and say it’s still not [too] late to make things happen like we had it planned out. So, I think Dom’s gonna have to earn the mask now, and he’s on his way. Eventually, one day, maybe the mask will be on.”
Rey and Dominik Mysterio won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania Backlash last weekend by defeating Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode.
However, the pair are not likely to have a lengthy reign with the belts, as the reported plan is for The Usos to win the titles relatively soon.
