A WWE source fully anticipates Cody Rhodes joining the company, following his AEW departure.
Following AEW’s official announcement that Cody and Brandi Rhodes have left the company, Sean Ross Sapp and Andrew Zarian reported that Cody’s team has been in contact with WWE. It has been heavily speculated that Cody will return to WWE, after an eventful almost-six year absence.
WrestleVotes has now provides some insight on the WWE backstage reaction to Rhodes’ free-agency. Per the Twitter account, a WWE source is anticipating for the American Nightmare signing a contract with WWE:
Spoke to a source just now that fully anticipates WWE coming to an agreement with Cody Rhodes. Unbelievable.
Cody last wrestled for WWE in May 2016, as Stardust. Cody’s request to be released from his WWE contract was granted that same month.
More details have now emerged on a contract dispute between Cody and AEW ahead of his departure.
