A five-way match for Intercontinental Title shot set for the August 19 edition of SmackDown.
On the August 12 episode of SmackDown, Gunther defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to retain the Intercontinental Championship.
WWE has announced that the next challenger for Gunther will be determined in a fatal five-way match on the August 19 episode.
It will be Ricochet vs. Happy Corbin vs. Madcap Moss vs. Sheamus vs. Sami Zayn with the winner facing Gunther at Clash At The Castle in Cardiff, Wales on September 3.
The company released the following statement via their website:
Ricochet, Madcap Moss, Sheamus, Happy Corbin and Sami Zayn will battle it out in a Fatal 5-Way Match tonight on SmackDown, and the winner will earn an Intercontinental Championship Match against Gunther at WWE Clash at the Castle!
Find out who will earn the right to challenge Gunther for the workhorse title by prevailing in an absolute free-for-all, tonight at 8/7 C on FOX.
WWE has made a concerted effort to elevate their mid-card titles on both Raw and SmackDown with added focus on the United States and Intercontinental Championships.
