WWE held it’s first premium live event in the United Kingdom in over 30 years back on September 3, when they brought Clash at the Castle to Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
The event took place in front of 60,000 loud British WWE fans, with home islander Drew McIntyre coming up short against Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the main event of the show.
The show was considered a rousing success by both the company and the fans, and Triple H took to Twitter today to boast about the various records set by the show.
Per Triple H, WWE’s Clash at the Castle show set the record for:
- Most viewed international premium live event in WWE history
- WWE’s largest European gate in history
- Highest rated international premium live event in WWE history
- Highest concurrent views of any non pre-show (Post-show press conference)
- Most merchandise sold at any non-WrestleMania event
The bizarre ending with Drew McIntyre and Tyson Fury on the show was met with a lot of criticism, and the real reason why the ending made air has now been revealed.
