AEW has paid tribute to a crew member who recently passed away and who was a stalwart of the wrestling business for thirteen years.
It was recently reported that AEW lead video engineer, Brian Muster, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 36.
Brian Muster was affectionately known to those who knew him as ‘Mongo.’
In tribute to Muster, AEW made several references to ‘Mongo’ throughout AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, October 26.
The interview area was called ‘the Mongo position,’ by the broadcast team (Taz, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone).
AEW’s results page for the show also used the reference, referring to Renee Paquette “at the Mongo position backstage with Bryan Danielson,” in tribute to Muster.
Brian Muster spent over ten years working for IMPACT Wrestling as lead video engineer before joining AEW at the outset of its launch.
A GoFundMe page was opened up by Greg Werner with an original target of $75,000 to provide financial support to Muster’s family. The campaign passed its initial goal, and now has an updated goal of $125,000. If you wish to make a pledge to the campaign, you can do so at this link.
Greg Werner posted a statement alongside the fundraising appeal that reads as follows:
This morning we lost an amazing person who made the world a better place. Brian Muster passed away this morning very unexpectedly. He leaves behind his fiancee and 2 young children. Brian worked on many shows over the years; the last three years, he was an integral part of creating the look of AEW Wrestling by working as their Lead Video Engineer since its very first show. I traveled the world with Brian from Europe and Asia to the Indian Subcontinent, and he would always make you smile with his personality, smile and joy of life. I was blessed to watch him grow from a teenager just getting in the business of TV to one of the Elite Video Engineer’s in the country, and all who met Brian loved him.
He will be dearly missed and I hope you’ll find the time to say a prayer and/or make a donation of any size to this fund to provide some financial support for his family and their future.
Thank you for your time,
Greg WernerR.I.P. Brian Muster
WrestleTalk’s condolences are with the family and friends of Brian Muster at this difficult time.
