A major update has since emerged on plans for the BT Sport rebranding. More at this link.
An update has emerged on the joint venture between Warner Bros Discovery and BT Sport, the home of WWE TV in the UK.
It was announced in May 2022 that Warner Bros. Discovery and BT group would be forming a 50:50 sports venture together.
The plan was for BT Sport and Eurosport UK to remain separate brands at first, before being combined under as single brand.
Per Sportmail, BT Sport and Eurosport are set to announce several new channels, ahead of the two brands pooling all their live sports rights.
With BT Sport expected to have a name change, it was also reported that a holding company has now been set up named ‘Warner Brothers Discovery Sport’.
BT Sport is notably the home of WWE in the UK, with Raw, SmackDown and NXT airing through the network.
A press release discussing the new venture shared in September 2022 confirmed that WWE is one of the brands that will be available with the new sports venture.
Warner Bros Discovery notably owns TBS and TNT, the networks on which AEW Dynamite and AEW Rampage air on in the US.
AEW and Eurosport previously formed a partnership to broadcast weekly shows and pay-per-views in India.
In the UK, AEW airs online on Fite, and on ITV4.
We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
