A new interview has revealed scrapped plans for Naomi winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles with a partner not named Sasha Banks.
At WWE WrestleMania 38, Naomi and Sasha Banks won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships in a four-way match. A month later, the duo walked out of the company due to creative differences with Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis, and they were subsequently suspended as well as stripped of the titles.
Since then, Sasha Banks has left WWE and debuted for New Japan Pro Wrestling as Mercedes Moné. Meanwhile, Naomi, real name Trinity Fatu, hasn’t been seen in WWE or any company.
During a virtual signing for Golden Ring Collectibles, Ariane Andrew was asked about Trinity. Recalling her return in the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble and plans for her and Fatu to win the Women’s Tag Team Titles following the event, Ariane said:
“2022 for me was not one of my best years. You’re gonna get tea… So I’m gonna give all the goodies… I’ve shared this but I think the more I can share, the better, so did the Royal Rumble…”
“and then two days after, lost my dad, got called back to come back to WWE to get the Tag Team Titles with Naomi and then Thursday, they were (like), never mind, girl… Because Naomi and I were talking about gear.”
As previously reported, Andrew also revealed that Trinity Fatu is currently recovering from shoulder surgery.
