On tonight’s episode of WWE Raw (June 12), tensions continue to rise within one major faction as big opportunities are on the horizon.
With the Money in the Bank premium live event set to occur on Saturday, July 1 in London, England, there were numerous matches booked tonight on Raw involving one faction.
In the opening segment of the night, Judgment Day’s Rhea Ripley was presented with a new championship belt and name for the title.
Although the celebration was cut somewhat short as the pair of Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio were interrupted by Cody Rhodes.
By the end of the segment, the heat had risen so high between the trio that Rhea Ripley accepted Cody Rhodes’ challenge at Money in the Bank on behalf of Dominik Mysterio.
Setting up the first match of the night announced for Judgment Day added to Money in the Bank, Rhodes will take on Mysterio in front of what is certain to be a raucous London crowd.
After some notable tension backstage between the Judgment Day, Damian Priest made his way to the ring to go head to head against Matt Riddle, asking the rest of Judgment Day to stay backstage, which Finn Balor in particular wasn’t happy with.
Last week, Priest had asked Balor to stay backstage for his match against Seth Rollins, but Balor still showed up, resulting in more tension between Priest and Balor, and Balor saying he had a lot of things on his mind tonight.
While Priest would go on to win his match on Raw and gain the opportunity to join the Money in the Bank ladder match, Balor would later end up coming to ring to discuss what was on his mind.
In a segment with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Balor would unleash years of bitterness and resentment at the champ who stood ready for the challenge.
Shortly after their exchange, commentary confirmed that just added to Money in the Bank, a big match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Seth Rollins will defend his title against Finn Balor.
After the match was confirmed, in another layer to the story a backstage segment saw JD McDonagh chatting with Balor, exiting grateful for Balor’s guidance when Priest walked up.
While Balor first congratulated Priest for winning his qualifying match, the conversation quickly soured as Balor sought to verify that Priest wouldn’t cash in the briefcase on him when he won his WWE World Heavyweight Championship match.
Priest denied this, albeit indirectly, asking Balor why he would even ask him something like that… before noting that perhaps Balor was being a little paranoid.
The plot thickens!
