Fans have been talking about Johnny Gargano nonstop since last night’s WWE Raw show, and he didn’t even make an appearance.
With the show taking place in Cleveland, Gargano’s home town, many had expected Gargano to appear on the show, with most speculating that he would answer Seth Rollins’ open challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The open challenge ended up not happening, which was said to be a Vince McMahon change, though Gargano’s former partner Tommaso Ciampa made his return on the show, defeating The Miz.
Gargano did not make a single appearance on the show, which many fans found confusing.
In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), Gargano was not the intended original open challenge opponent for Rollins, even prior to Vince McMahon’s late change.
While Gargano was not on the show, he was reportedly present backstage at the show.
Gargano took to Twitter after the show, where he thanked fans for their support.
He wrote:
I love you, Cleveland. You brought it all night! I also appreciate all the support I’ve seen out there. Love y’all!
Following his return, Ciampa cut a backstage promo about his goals in the company, which concluded with a tease of a potential reunion with Gargano.
I love you, Cleveland. You brought it all night!
I also appreciate all the support I've seen out there. Love y'all! 🫶
