A former WWE star has told the story of Vince McMahon’s sheer disbelief at a particularly insane spot during a tag team ladder match.
The spot in question came during the TLC 2015 pay-per-view opener between The New Day’s Big E & Kofi Kingston, The Usos and The Lucha Dragons (Samuray Del Sol AKA Kalisto & Sin Cara) in a three-way tag title ladder match.
During the match, Del Sol hit his Salida Del Sol finishing manoeuvre to Jey Uso from the top of the ladder through another ladder down below.
Speaking during a Virtual Signing for K&S Wrestlefest, Del Sol recalled the moment and what Vince McMahon told him afterwards.
Del Sol said:
“Who remembers the Slammy Award when I won and I did the Salida Del Sol from the top ladder?
“It was 20 feet up high. I took a small glimpse, looked down like, welp, this is pretty high up.
“‘Okay, let’s do it.’ It was crazy.
“Even Vince (McMahon) pulled me aside like, ‘Hey, you’re f’ing crazy man.’
“‘Oh, okay. That’s what I do. Let me know.’
Del Sol and Sin Cara lost the match, however, the moment remained a high point of the former Kalisto’s career and he did later capture WWE gold becoming a two-time United States Champion and a one-time Cruiserweight Champion.
Since his 2021 WWE release Del Sol has competed all over the world for promotions such as DDT and AAA.
