AEW star Matt Hardy has shared his honest thoughts on the return of CM Punk, on the debut episode of Collision.
The former AEW World Champion’s comeback coincided with the premiere edition of AEW Collision.
In the main event of the new Saturday show, Punk teamed with FTR to face off against Samoa Joe, Jay White and Juice Robinson.
Speaking with Alex McCarthy for Daily Mail Online, Hardy argued that whether you’re a fan of Punk or not, he’s a big deal.
Commenting on Punk’s fanbase, Hardy said:
“I am glad we have Collision, and there’s no doubt about it CM Punk is a big star, and he has a very loyal fan base that follows him wherever he goes.
“He’s a big deal, and him returning to AEW was a big deal.
“Whether you like him, or you don’t like him personally, that doesn’t really matter in the end. I mean, he is a big deal.”
CM Punk most recently wrestled on the July 8 edition of Collision, defeating Samoa Joe in the semifinals of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament.
Punk will meet Ricky Starks in the tournament finals on this week’s (July 14) Collision episode, following Starks’ semifinal win over Powerhouse Hobbs.
Matt Hardy has pitched a huge match involving a WWE talent as his dream retirement bout, which you can read about at this link.
