Last night’s (July 18) episode of WWE NXT saw the latest main roster talent make an appearance on the show, when ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio challenged Wes Lee for the North American Championship.
Dirty Dom ended up winning the championship from Wes Lee in the main event of the show, becoming the second member of the Judgment Day to hold championship gold alongside his Mami Rhea Ripley.
Well, Dom’s title match appears to have had a major impact on the ratings for NXT.
Per Wrestlenomics, last night’s show drew in a total of 746,000 viewers, and scored a 0.21 in the key 18-49 demographic.
This is the second highest rating for the show since 2021, only being bested by last month’s NXT Gold Rush night one special, which featured Seth Rollins defending the NXT Championship against Bron Breakker.
In terms of viewers for the Mysterio vs Lee match specifically, that quarter-hour was the high point of the show at 844,000 viewers, which was 21% up from the quarter-hour before it.
For comparison, the Seth Rollins vs Brock Breakker match peaked at 950,000 viewers.
Mysterio’s championship win has seemingly caused a major change to creative plans for the brand, as the match between Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali is no longer being advertised for the Great American Bash next weekend.
A WWE star competed in their first match in seven months at last night’s tapings, which you can read about here.
