An AEW star captured championship gold at last night’s (September 23) AAA tapings.
AAA and AEW have long had a working relationship, with the AAA Mega Championship being defended numerous times on AEW television, as well as QT Marshall reigning as the Latin American Champion.
Another AEW star captured a AAA title at last night’s tapings, but it’s one that is no stranger to gold in the promotion.
Per Diario Record & Rob Viper on Twitter, on the show, Konnan announced an impromptu match, at the request of El Hijo Del Vikingo, to crown a new AAA Cruiserweight Champion.
The match came about due to the planned AAA Mega Championship match between Vikingo and Komander being cancelled due to an injury to Vikingo.
Komander ended up picking up the victory to become the new Cruiserweight Champion, making him a double champion in the promotion, as he also reigns as one half of the AAA Tag Team Champions alongside Arez.
