A top WWE star has commented on the expansion of WWE touring in international markets and believes that West Africa could be ‘close’.
Kofi Kingston was speaking to The Messenger, when he described thinking that WWE was ‘close’ to booking an international event in his native region, West Africa.
Kofi Kingston, who was born in Ghana, said:
“I’m trying to go to Ghana, West Africa,”
“I know we had a tryout in Nigeria. So we’re getting close, we’re getting close. I think it’s just a matter of time.”
“It’s actually amazing how much we have broadened our horizons in the past five years or so,”
“We’ve been traveling all over the world for a very, very long time with WWE, but we have not brought the highest level.
That’s really what we’ve been doing in the past five years.”
“There are a lot of people all over the world who are big fans and I’m glad we actually get to bring the product to them in the highest form because they deserve to see it.”
WWE did host a tryout in Nigeria in February 2023, open to citizens from all over Africa in their ‘search for the next African WWE star’.
