The Rated R Superstar Adam Copeland has addressed potentially bringing back one aspect of his early years in WWE and introducing them to his AEW persona.
Following his AEW debut at WrestleDream on October 1, Adam Copeland’s presentation has been almost-identical to that of his WWE run, only with Copeland going by his real name in AEW.
This of course includes his entrance theme ‘Metalingus’ by Alter Bridge, which was retained for his run in AEW, to the delight of many fans.
Prior to Copeland’s move to AEW speculation ran wild regarding whether WWE also held rights to Metalingus, meaning a change of music may be needed.
While this proved to not be the case, one alternative theme some theorised Copeland could use was Rob Zombie’s Never Gonna Stop, which Edge used following his split from Christian in the early 2000s.
Making an appearance on The Masked Man Show, Copeland was asked about potentially bringing this theme back, to which he didn’t entirely rule the possibility of using it, but did reiterate his personal love for his existing theme.
“I mean, you never know (Copeland said about using Rob Zombie’s ‘Never Gonna Stop’ in AEW). But being a music nerd myself, to me, it sets the whole tone, and for Adam — I’m doing the third person again. Jesus.
“For me standing back there and knowing that that’s about to play and come flying out of the shoot, it’s really important for me to set the tone, to get me into that place and Metalingus and I-I think would become kind of synonymous together.
“It’s been 20 years now, you know? And friends with the band, just great dudes… You watch Mark Tremonti play a guitar and you’ll never pick up a guitar again.
“If you sit beside him and just watch, it’s like, yeah, why bother?… That’s not happening. So, that was really, really important to me but it is also fun to think, okay, there might be a time, ‘Yeah, I’m on Durango’ pops up. You never know.”
Many names throughout the wrestling world have weighed in on Copeland departing WWE after a 25-year association with the company, including Kurt Angle, Kevin Nash and Booker T.
Adding to the list was WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, who was asked his thoughts on the WWE Hall of Famer’s move to AEW at the Fastlane post-show media scrum.
