A WWE Hall of Famer says he was shocked to see Adam Copeland debut in AEW.
At AEW WrestleDream, “The Rated R Superstar” Adam Copeland made his debut for All Elite Wrestling.
For many fans, it was very surprising to see the former Edge appear for another promotion after over 25 years with WWE.
In a new interview on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Rey Mysterio shared his thoughts on his former tag team partner debuting for AEW. Admitting he was shocked to see Copeland debut, Rey said:
“I was shocked ’cause we had just spoken a week before that…We never had the time to even talk about what was next.”
“I saw him in his last match and, yeah, we’ll be in touch ’cause we call each other every now and then.”
“And next thing you know, I didn’t even see, it was on social media the following day and they were like, ‘Did you see who popped up?’ I was like, “No, what happened?” And they showed me, I was like, “Wow, I did not see that coming.””
“But I imagine he has his reasons on why and I can’t wait to sit down and chop it up with him.”
Rey Mysterio and Adam Copeland are former WWE Tag Team Champions together and reunited to team in 2022 when both men feuded with The Judgment Day.
Elsewhere in the interview, Mysterio confirmed that a top WWE star is set to make his return on the October 20 edition of SmackDown, which you can read here.
