WWE Crown Jewel is set to take place in Saudi Arabia today, and it features many top matches on the show.
However, one big name missing from the card is Intercontinental Champion Gunther, who is not scheduled for a championship defence on the premium live event.
Many had wondered why Gunther had been left off the big show in Riyadh, and we now know the real reason why that’s the case.
In an interview with Krone, Gunther revealed that, due to strict residence regulations, he is not able to leave the United States for the next six months.
This timeframe will prevent Gunther from appearing at Crown Jewel, as well as WWE Elimination Chamber in Australia in February.
However, Gunther will be free to travel again in time for next year’s Bash in Berlin event in Germany in August 2024.
Gunther’s next challenger for his championship will be determined on next week’s Raw show, when Ricochet, The Miz, Bronson Reed and Ivar face off in a four-way.
Current IC Champion Gunther will not be competing at WWE’s Elimination Chamber event in Australia next year in February.
As he’s revealed that for the next 6-months he’s not allowed to leave the USA due to strict residence regulations.
