The top NXT star who will be entering the WWE United States Title tournament has been revealed.
On the December 1 edition of WWE SmackDown, United States Champion Logan Paul announced a U.S. Title tournament to determine the next challenger for his title.
When revealing the participants, one spot was left a mystery as Paul announced a NXT star of Shawn Michaels’ choosing would compete in the tournament.
On December 10, WWE posted a video with HBK announcing that the star representing the brand in the tournament would be former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes.
This will be Melo’s first match on the SmackDown brand as he previously debuted on the main roster over on Monday Night Raw earlier this year.
Hayes will face Grayson Waller in the first round of the U.S. Title tournament on the December 15 episode of SmackDown.
Carmelo Hayes last wrestled in a win over Lexis King at NXT Deadline on December 9.
