A recently released WWE star has been announced for an upcoming first-time-ever match with a member of the Anoa’i Family.
The latest round of WWE talent cuts took place back on September 21, when many names from both the main roster and NXT were released from the company.
One of the most notable names released was Matt Riddle, who had been a prominent part of WWE television following the formation of RK-Bro with Randy Orton in 2022.
Riddle was released following an investigation into an incident at JFK airport back in September, and was seen has having ‘burned through too many chances’ in the company.
However, Riddle is undeniably a big get for many promotions, and he has now been announced for a big first-time-ever match.
Per William Gardner on Twitter, Riddle is currently advertised for the upcoming MLW Kings of Colosseum tapings on January 6, where he will face Jacob Fatu, a member of the Anoa’i Family.
Per Gardner, the flyers advertising MLW’s show at the 2300 Arena were handed out at last night’s event which took place there.
Riddle obviously has a lot of history with the Anoa’i Family, with him being a former rival of the Bloodline, even challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on SmackDown last year.
Riddle and the other released WWE names are set to become free agents this week.
TNA president Scott D’Amore recently teased being on the ‘goal line’ of signing the company’s biggest signing ahead of their upcoming rebrand at Hard to Kill.
