The January 19 episode of WWE SmackDown saw Paul Heyman in something of a predicament ahead of this weekend’s Royal Rumble.
With Roman Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in a Fatal four-way against AJ Styles, LA Knight and Randy Orton, things broke down on last week’s SmackDown, as can be seen in the video below this story.
With Styles and Knight getting into a brawl that took them away from Orton and Heyman, the Viper made his position on Reigns very clear, promising the beat the champion in the ring.
Heyman wasn’t able to back off as Orton had hold of the Wise Man’s tie, leaving him in quite a precarious position and very much within reach of an RKO.
Thankfully for Heyman, Orton let his words do the damage, something that the Bloodline associate has reflected upon on Twitter, writing:
“Hmmmmm … @RandyOrton has me all TIED up. Ahem …
“I’d like to thank the #Viper for his merciful decision not to DDT nor RKO me.
“Considering the fact AJ Styles and LA Knight are clearly conspiring against Mr Orton regarding this #Fatal4Way Match, I respect his intelligent decision.
“If there’s ever any business for us to do in the future …”
Heyman’s history in WWE has seen him manage six world champions, a record within the company – Big Show, Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam, CM Punk, Brock Lesnar & Roman Reigns.
With Punk now back in WWE, Heyman has previously commented on his former client returning to the company.
