At the WWE WrestleMania 40 kickoff event tonight (February 8) there was some breaking news to start the show with WWE Speed being confirmed.
The WrestleMania 40 media event kicked off with a brief pre-show panel featuring Big E, CM Punk, Michael Cole and Pat McAfee.
Before the stage was passed to Triple H who addressed the crowd, Michael Cole confirmed a bit of breaking news.
Announcing a brand new online exclusive series, it was confirmed that the recent fast match tapings were moving forward to become a reality.
WWE wrote:
“JUST ANNOUNCED: WWE Speed is a new weekly video series showcasing up to 5-minute matches which will be distributed exclusively on X!
“Beginning Spring 2024, WWE and X will deliver the new format for high-paced timed matches showcasing your favorite WWE Superstars!”
Elsewhere at the event, Triple H addressed the crowd by reviewing the history of the first ever WrestleMania before noting that this year’s event would mark the beginning of a brand new era for the company.
Triple H said:
“A new time, a new era and an all new WWE.
“And I promise you this, you ain’t seen nothing yet. So Las Vegas: are you ready?
“You had better be because right now, we start the road to WrestleMania 40.”
