WWE’s Lexis King has made quite the confession as to how he’s ended up with so many championship opportunities in NXT.
A few weeks ago, King found himself in a match for the North American Championship against Dragon Lee – Dragon Lee retained, but afterwards, Oba Femi cashed in his NXT Breakout Tournament winner contract to immediately beat Dragon Lee for the title.
On the February 20 episode of WWE NXT, which was recorded on February 13, King gets another shot at the North American Championship, still currently held by Oba Femi.
Femi has taken exception to King, however, mocking his facial hair and promising a spectacular moment in the match, tweeting:
“Going to have to powerbomb @LexisKingWWE so hard that his chin strap comes off. See you next week !!”
Lexis King then issued a response of his own, addressing his beard and also revealing how he’s ended up in championship matches, replying:
“That look when you have the best beard line on the planet and just conned your way into yet another championship opportunity 😏👑…”
Femi won the 2023 Men’s NXT Breakout Tournament, cashing in his title opportunity on January 9, 2024, to become NXT North American Champion defeating Dragon Lee straight after Lee’s match with King.
Signed to WWE through the Next in Line (NIL) program, Femi is the first wrestler under that developmental scheme to hold a WWE championship.
King, the former Brian Pillman Jr, left AEW in July 2023 and would take part in a WWE tryout during that month, with his Lexis King character debuting through vignettes in September.
