A WWE star has expressed how “proud” they are of members of the roster after an injury forced a last-minute creative change.
On last night’s NXT (February 20) an NXT Women’s Championship match was set to take place between Lyra Valkyria and SmackDown’s Shotzi.
However, early on in the match Shotzi took a spill to the outside which unfortunately resulted in her sustaining a serious knee injury.
This led to the match being abruptly called off and Lash Legend being inserted in her place for an impromptu title challenge.
The reactive decision and ability to adapt on the fly was something that clearly impressed NXT General Manager Ava, who took to Twitter to express how proud she is of the women’s division – particularly Legend and Valkyria.
Ava said:
very proud of the @WWENXT women’s division tonight, especially @lashlegendwwe & @Real_Valkyria. get well soon @ShotziWWE
As you may be aware, last night’s episode of NXT was pre-taped last week due to WWE travelling to Perth, Australia for Elimination Chamber this Saturday (February 24).
This means that there is already plenty of information on the extent of Shotzi’s injury, as well as her recovery timeline.
As confirmed by Shotzi herself in a social media post yesterday (February 20), she unfortunately suffered a torn ACL and faces nine months on the shelf following surgery.

WrestleTalk would like to extend our well wishes to Shotzi in her recovery.
