AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has addressed former AEW World Tag Team Champion Jack Perry’s absence from the company.
At AEW All In London, HOOK defeated Jack Perry to regain the FTW Championship on the Zero Hour pre-show. However, no one was talking about his match following the show.
Following his bout, Perry reportedly got into a backstage altercation with CM Punk that led to major consequences for both men. Punk was fired, while Perry was suspended.
Most recently, the former Jungle Boy made his debut for NJPW where he is now known as “The Scapegoat” and joined the House of Torture faction, but a recent report indicated that AEW President Tony Khan was angry with Perry about the loss of Punk.
In a new interview with ComicBook.com, Khan was asked if he’s planning to continue this version of Perry’s character if and when he returns to AEW programming. He answered:
“Well, I think you gotta stay tuned. Absolutely, Jack’s doing great things in New Japan. The New Japan Cup – he’s had a great run. He’s established himself over there. He feels he’s the ‘Scapegoat.'”
“But he’s doing great things, and he’s wrestling for a great promotion, and it’s been great tracking Jack’s progress in New Japan. And I think he’s done excellent work there.”
Jack Perry defeated Shota Umino and Toru Yano before losing to SANADA in the New Japan Cup tournament.
CM Punk’s AEW contract was terminated following the incident with Perry at All In. He would later return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023.
However, Punk is currently out of action with a torn triceps injury. For an update on his recovery, click here.
WrestleTalk will provide any further updates on Jack Perry’s AEW status when they become available.
