10 AEW World Champions In Waiting

10 AEW World Champions In Waiting

Since day one, All Elite Wrestling has consistently ensured their world championships – and the reigns associated with them – carry meaning. As such, each champion only adds to a rapidly building legacy of greatness within a company that values just that.

On the men’s side, Chris Jericho injected an immediate surge of legitimacy and name value. He’s been followed expertly by two more names recognizable on a worldwide scale in Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega.

For the women, a surprise victory on the debut episode of Dynamite began Riho’s inaugural reign with the title. She was followed by dominant champions in Nyla Rose and Hikaru Shida. Today, AEW may as well be replaced by DMD, as Britt Baker sits atop the mountain of all elite females.

As we look to the future, the possibilities for the lineage of the world titles are endless. The following are ten All Elite Wrestling World Champions in waiting.

10. Darby Allin

Since his very first match in AEW, no one seems to have quite the company rub than Darby Allin does. Thrust into high-profile feuds and marquee matches, he has become much more than an emo enigma. He is trusted.

That is something earned in blood, sweat, and tears in All Elite Wrestling. He’s main evented shows, drawn ratings, and pushed some of the company’s top stars to their absolute limits. An unrivaled amount of respect comes along with those hard-earned lumps.

Beyond his obvious and uniquely marketable character traits, Darby is a draw. Loved by children and adults alike, he’s someone who you can construct a dynasty around. That is just what AEW can rightly do when the time is right.

It makes no difference who the champion is when it comes time to pull the trigger because Darby Allin can fit into a near-perfect feud with anyone. That’s a rare gift in professional wrestling – one AEW should capitalize on repeatedly.

9. Leyla Hirsch

There may be no more fitting a tagline in AEW than that of Leyla Hirsch. Everything about her, from her no-nonsense physical ring style to the passion oozing from her face in the heat of battle, screams “legitimate.”

What she relinquishes in stature to many of her colleagues, she makes up for in pure legitimacy. From the moment Leyla walks through the tunnel, AEW levels up. She carries with her that type of energy.

What sets her apart, in addition to her unique style, is that compared to other members of the AEW women’s division, she comes with no gimmick, no jokes, and no mercy. What you get when you step into the ring with Leyla Hirsch is just that – Leyla Hirsch. The competition should already be on notice.

8. Scorpio Sky

One of AEW’s original signings, there may not be a more athletically gifted athlete on the roster than Scorpio Sky.

Decorated in gold once upon a time as one half of the first Tag Team Champions and as the reigning “Face of the Revolution” ladder match winner, Sky carries with him a sneaky powerful resume.

Granted, he’s performed largely as a tag team wrestler since AEW’s inception, but he is one who seems always at the ready to tangle with the best.

In addition, he’s armed with an “A” personality, the ego of a legend, and the style of a fashion God.

Given the opportunity, there is no one on the roster who wouldn’t be elevated by Scorpio Sky. We all win.
