8. Return Of The McMahons
Several years ago Vince McMahon made the decision to no longer feature on WWE television as an active performer, feeling he was too old to appear on the show. Well, that only applies when ratings are up. When they are down, as they have been recently, WWE’s default is to fill the show with McMahons.
The return of Vince alongside Shane, Stephanie and Triple H to positions of power on WWE broadcasts was designed to usher in a New Era in WWE of giving fans what they want. There are various ironies to this but we won’t go into them here.
The reason that the McMahons are the default option is because of the success the family had as onscreen characters during the Attitude Era. Although they all jumped the shark many times in the following years, the family’s battles against Steve Austin and others were the key reason for the ratings success WWE enjoyed during that time period, which remains the most successful in company history.
