Jerry Lawler may have been a commentator at the time, but in Royal Rumble 1997, he came in ready to win.
While Steve Austin and Bret Hart were fighting in the middle of the ring, Lawler’s music hit. You could tell that he was more than eager to get in the ring, not finishing his sentence before taking his jacket off before he went in.
He probably should have finished it, as Lawler was immediately punched out of the ring by Bret Hart. Lawler still managed to continue commentary after selling a pained jaw. So much for ‘it takes a king to know a king.’
