5. The Miz

One of my personal favorite characters in wrestling – as well as the man who probably has the most storyline history with Bryan without a match to pay it off – the Miz was the first opponent that came to mind when WWE announced the in-ring return of SmackDown Live‘s General Manager. While perhaps not the flashiest worker on the list, the Miz could tell an amazing story with Bryan in 2018, both inside the ring and out. The history between these two spans back to the first season of NXT, where Bryan was The Miz’s “apprentice” despite having spent four more years in the wrestling business; and the Miz cut one of the greatest promos in recent history on an episode of Talking Smack in 2016, screaming in Bryan’s face and calling him a coward for not stepping back into the ring. With so much to call back to, the story essentially writes itself.
