5 SURPRISE RETURNS We Could See At WrestleMania 34

3. James Ellsworth

As a great man once said, “any man with two hands has a fighting chance…” of returning at WrestleMania after getting released. Okay, maybe some of that is paraphrased.

James Ellsworth is one of wrestling’s greatest and most unlikely stories. Appearing on an episode of Raw as a jobber, Ellsworth was so likable that he somehow managed to get himself a place in a main-event storyline between Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles for the WWE Championship.

Ellsworth would eventually be signed by the company as a full-time performer, but would sadly be released in November of last year. Don’t weep for the chinless wonder just yet, because there is every chance we could see his delightful face back in the WWE.

At the moment, Braun Strowman is looking for a tag team partner to challenge Sheamus and Cesaro for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania. Braun undoubtedly wouldn’t be in a position to do this, were it not for his meteoric rise to stardom over the last two or so years. A rise that started with a victory over a jobber on Raw – a certain James Ellsworth.

Having Ellsworth return at WrestleMania as Braun’s tag team partner would work on so many levels. It fits the storyline perfectly, it would be a huge feel-good moment for the crowd and it also gives WWE an out if they don’t want to take the titles off The Bar – Ellsworth could lose the match for his team and then Braun could beat the snot out of him, writing him back out of the company. It’s a win-win.

Whilst it will most likely be Elias that steps up as Braun’s partner, I think we can all agree that a returning James Ellsworth would be a much better option. Seriously, can you imagine the photo shoot if they actually win the belts? Comedy gold, right there.
