A Post-’Mania Angle With Cody
If Jay White does end up heading to WWE, he couldn’t really have a better introduction to the company than on the post-’Mania edition of WWE, staring down AND NEWWWWW WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
This would actually be true of any new big signing, but the obvious angle of two former members of Bullet Club going toe-to-toe – while one of them is holding the company’s top title, no less – is just too juicy a prospect to pass up.
While this probably wouldn’t be a real possibility in the WWE of old (“old” being “like six months ago”), Triple H has shown not only a willingness to acknowledge the histories of the wrestlers under his employ, but a desire to get in on some of that New Japan action where he can.
Having White challenge Rhodes wouldn’t just be a great angle, but would actually provide a pretty fan-friendly explanation for White’s debut in the company.
In this scenario he isn’t just “selling out” to the bigger company; he’s capitalizing on the fact that a former member of the faction he himself led just months earlier has now reached the highest echelons of North American wrestling.
Not only that, but as a former leader of Bullet Club (a position Rhodes never aspired to), the stage would be set for White to throw down the gauntlet to somebody he sees as a less worthy, less relevant version of himself.
Bow down before the real boss, Cody.
