7 Matches That Could Be Added To WWE Extreme Rules: The Horror Show

Apollo Crews (c) vs. Bobby Lashley – United States Championship

With MVP trying and failing to take Apollo Crews under his wing, he’s set his client Bobby Lashley on a mission to teach the US Champion a lesson.

A few other names are getting involved in this too. MVP has reached out to Shelton Benjamin about possibly joining his clientele, while Ricochet and Cedric Alexander have come to the aid of Crews.

Lashley picked up a dominant win over Ricochet last night, and looks on course to be Crews’ next challenger.

He was, however, getting a bit frustrated with how MVP was continuing to try to get through to Crews despite being rejected several times, so it’s possible MVP could be involved in the title match too if there are any further signs of tension between the two. But Crews vs Lashley would be more likely I’d say.

New Day (c) vs. Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura – SmackDown Tag Team Championship

New Day were set for a SmackDown Tag Team Title program with blue brand newcomers Forgotten Sons, but following controversy created by a pro-Trump Jaxson Ryker tweet in the height of the Black Lives Matter movement, the latter group was pulled from TV.

There have been reports there are plans being discussed to bring back Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake as a duo with a different gimmick, but all three have been off our screens during that time.

In the meantime, New Day was defeated in tag team action by Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura on the last show before Backlash, with many thinking a title match may have been added to that card.

It wasn’t, but no other teams have since stepped up, so if New Day are going to defend the titles at Extreme Rules, Cesaro and Nakamura are the most likely opposition right now.
