All Elite Wrestling’s first ever video game “AEW Fight Forever” is set to be released on June 29th, 2023.
Overall it can be described as a celebration of the old arcade-like wrestling games like WWF No Mercy.
And just like those older games it is going to be published by a video game company that named itself after the old publisher of such games: THQ Nordic.
At the moment AEW is releasing information for AEW Fight Forever daily.
One of the first criticisms came with the lack of unique match types for the 50+ wrestlers that are going to feature in Fight Forever.
The current list goes as follows:
- Singles
- Tag Team
- 3-Way
- 4-Way
- Ladder
- Casino Battle Royal
- Falls Count Anywhere
- Stadium Stampede
- Unsanctioned Lights Out
- Exploding Barbed Wire Death
This opens up a huge amount of opportunities to add more matches as time goes on. For example…
Trios Match
Trios matches are a staple of AEW TV.
Where in the videogame, they are nowhere to be found.
AEW even introduced a Trios Championship in 2022, currently held by The House Of Black.
The championship has been defended 16 times in AEW history and non-title trios matches basically happen every week.
Let’s hope AEW is going to patch in this particular match type at some point.
Nevertheless, it is not the only tag team match version that is missing in the game…
