Faby Apache beat Alisha Edwards

So, it took me a minute to realise this was the same woman who confronted Tessa Blanchard backstage. I wasn’t familiar with Faby Apache. She had a decent match and seems to have a quality move set but Alisha Edwards is green.

If I saw this match on the card without any of the backstage segments, I would have assumed this match would have gone like the oVe match.

However, it didn’t. Right as Josh Matthews was telling us about her signature moves, Apache busts out a sit-out powerbomb for the win. A little surprising, but clearly setting up a match with Tessa.

After the match we got a promo from Apache. I’m sure she has lots of experience and is well respected in Mexico but she does not appear to have much experience cutting promos in front of a camera. Matthew tried his best, but this was rough.

Apache kept facing the live crowd instead of the hard cam. Poor Josh tried to get her to turn around but she kept looking the wrong way. Then she did not speak English and needed a translator.

Unlike Zelina Vega and Andrade Almas, this guy was not a wrestling manager or promo guy. He just straight faced gave us a promo. Long story short, a bad two minutes to set up a match for next week with Tessa Blanchard.

I’ve posted before on here and on twitter that Impact needs challengers for Tessa. I’m not sure Apache is the right one. Earlier in the night when I saw Sexy Star, I thought that could be interesting.

However, I think Impact used Sexy Star as the woman who got intimidated and pushed aside as payback for events in the past with Sexy Star. I hope I’m wrong and we’ll get to see a Blanchard/Sexy Star match while Impact is filming in Mexico.

Lucha Brothers defeat Sydal and Swann

After a decent promo from Texano Jr and a Scarlett Bordeaux vignette, we get the match I was most excited for when it was announced earlier. While it didn’t quite reach the level of some of the Lucha Brothers previous matches in Impact, this was still a high quality TV match.

The crowd came alive for this match. Pentagon was super over with the Mexico crowd, as he and Fenix are both big time performers in Mexico. Early on, the Lucha Brothers were connecting with superkicks and one busted Sydal’s nose open the hard way.

Swann and Sydal could be a pretty interesting duo but don’t look for this to be a long term tag team combination. Late in the match they got the momentum. However, arguing over who would count to three for a double team move allowed the Lucha Brothers to get back in control. Fenix hit a great double foot stomp onto Swann, Pentagon hit the Fear Factor onto Sydal on the apron, then Fenix hits a Muscle Buster Driver onto Swann for the win.

After the match, oVe swarm the ring. Just as they are about to enter, Brian Cage is out to make the save. This is to further the build to the six-man tag at Bound for Glory. To quote Charlotte Flair, “This is going to be good, Woooo!!!” The six guys should put on a fantastic match at Bound for Glory.

I do still wonder why you wouldn’t have an X-Division Championship match at Bound for Glory. I’m haven’t changed my prediction of a title change in Mexico. Possibly, Matt Sydal to give Swann and Sydal’s potential match higher stakes.
