IMPACT Wrestling review – September 20, 2018

Austin Aries retains the Impact World Championship over Texano Jr.

Pretty good match here in the main event. Aries is a really good, all-around performer. Kross tried to get the belt into Aries, but the ref catches them. During the commotion, Texano used his bull rope on Aries then hit a superkick and pinned Aries for a near fall.

Aries sold me on this one. He didn’t get his foot on the rope until the last possible second. Texano picked Aries up and went for a powerbomb, but Aries reversed it into a brainbuster. He gets a clean pin on Texano Jr.

Even though there were some shenanigans, Aries more or less picked up a clean win over Texano Jr. Impact is doing a lot right by Aries. He’s looking like a legitimate champion and beating people clean in the ring. Guys he should be able to beat without cheating, granted, but you know he’ll cheat if he has to or wants to. That is how you book a heel champ. Another great Job by Impact creative here.

After the match, we get a stiff Promo from Johnny Impact. It looked like it was filmed with on a phone. Aries said he knew what Johnny was up to. He sent out Killer Kross and Moose into the crowd to look for the challenger. With all the focus on the crowd, Impact came down the ramp and attacked Aries in the ring. Moose and Kross tried to get in the ring, but Impact held them off.

As the guys were regrouping ringside, we see a kendo stick hit Kross in the arm. It was Eddie Edwards. He chased the threesome to the back and Edwards and Johnny Impact stood tall in the ring to end the show.
