Following the September 16 AEW Dynamite, it is clear that Samoa Joe is on his way to All Elite Wrestling.
After being absent from the promotion for the past three months, it should be interesting to see Joe back in the mix.
From championship gold to dealing with The Opps, there are some intriguing directions that could have some serious ramifications for Joe moving forward.
Here are some potential AEW return plans for Samoa Joe.
Facing “Jungle” Jack Perry
On the September 16 edition of AEW Dynamite, “Jungle” Jack Perry called out Samoa Joe for a match.
This continued Perry’s quest to prove himself as the best by facing the best.
Wanting to square off with former AEW World Champions, Perry looks to establish himself as a contender by going toe-to-toe with top stars in the company.
Upon his return, it looks like Joe will have to deal with Perry one way or another.
Adding new members to The Opps
Samoa Joe has been the leader of The Opps since establishing the group in 2025.
Alongside HOOK, Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata, the faction became one of the most prominent on AEW TV.
This helped Joe become the AEW World Trios Champion and AEW World Champion at the same time.
After the departure of Hobbs as well as the additions of Anthony Bowens and Action Andretti, Joe should bring more individuals into The Opps when he is back in the fold.
Rekindling rivalry with TNT Champion Darby Allin
Back in 2023, Samoa Joe and Darby Allin were embroiled in a feud over the TNT Championship.
In a memorable series of matches, Joe and Darby traded the title and beat the hell out of each other.
Looking to reclaim the TNT Title for a third time, “The Samoan Submission Machine” could target his old rival.
Now that Darby is enjoying his third reign, he could meet Joe one more time for the gold.
Challenging Will Ospreay for the AEW World Championship
Back at AEW Double Or Nothing 2026, Will Ospreay defeated Samoa Joe to advance to the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament Semifinals.
This marked the first time that Joe had gone one-on-one with Ospreay.
After getting a taste of what the current AEW World Champion has to offer, Joe could return, looking to avenge this loss.
Joe wanting a third reign as AEW World Champion might just be on the hunt for “The Aerial Assassin.”
