Back in July, it was announced that former WWE Champion Sheamus would be leaving the company after almost 20 years as part of the company.

It was noted that Sheamus’ contract would be expiring on October 1, and with the month changing over today, the Celtic Warrior is now reportedly a free agent able to sign and appear where he wishes.

Here are some options for what could be next for Sheamus following his free agency.

Joining United Empire

AEW star Will Ospreay

Will Ospreay announced he would be forming the United Empire’s AEW branch following All In London

Coming out of AEW All In, Will Ospreay announced he would be forming an AEW branch of his United Empire faction, with members already joining the group.

The Brawling Birds, Speedball Mike Bailey and Andrade El Idolo currently make up the rest of the group, with room for more members to join later.

Sheamus would make an immediate formidable member of the group.

Working in Japan

Outside of AEW, there is a whole world of wrestlers for Sheamus to potentially lock horns with for the first time.

While in WWE, Sheamus would always put on some of the hardest hitting matches on the show, and with him now able to expand his horizons, he would slide right into the scene in Japan.

Sheamus doing a G1 Climax in 2027 would be, in the words of the man himself, banger after banger.

Joining Claudio Castagnoli in the Death Riders

AEW’s tag team division is thriving, with the company forming almost inarguably the greatest roster of teams in the world right now.

With names like the Young Bucks, FTR, Cope & Cage, Motor City Machine Guns, the New Level and more great teams already in the mix, adding even more almost feels unfair.

However, Sheamus and Cesaro (Claudio Castagnoli) formed one of the best teams of the modern era when they came together as The Bar in the late 2010s, capturing five tag team championships together.

The Bar reuniting in AEW, and Sheamus coming into the company to join forces with the Death Riders, if even as an unofficial associate, adds yet another top tier team to the division.
