8. The Rock debuts (1996)
Just another guy coming and going in 90s WWF, right? Wrong. While you might not think it from looking at Rocky Maivia at Survivor Series 1996, The Rock would go on to become perhaps the biggest star the WWE ever produced.
The Rock made his debut in a Survivor Series tag match alongside partners Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, Marc Mero, and The Stalker (Barry Windham) facing Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Jerry Lawler, Goldust, and Crush. Although his hair was bad and his frilly tights were worse, The Rock’s debut is one of the most special and most significant moments in not only Survivor Series history but WWE history. Without his first match, The Rock would never have gone on to electrify the world as he is known for now.
The Rock managed to outlast all the other participants in the match, last eliminating Crush and Goldust to walk away as the “sole survivor”. He showed flashes of who he would become and it remains a debut that is always looked back upon fondly by the WWE.
